In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly evolved, earning a reputation as a game-changer across various industries, with email marketing being no exception. At OPTIZMO, we stay on top of emerging technologies, exploring how innovations like AI are reshaping the digital marketing landscape. Let’s look into five ways AI is already changing the way email marketers work today, as well as a few ways it may drive innovation in the future.
- Making Tone Shifts Easy
Adjusting the tone of the content in your emails is one area where AI shows its promise. Whether you’re crafting a promotional email aimed at exciting your customers or drafting a formal corporate announcement that requires a more formal voice, AI can help shift that tone while keeping the core message the same. This can ensure your communications strike the right chord, maintaining brand consistency but making sure the tone is appropriate for the audience and occasion.
- Generating Subject Lines
When it comes to crafting subject lines, a task that’s become second nature to many of us in email marketing, it’s easy to see how AI can help get new ideas rolling. There’s no denying that AI can inspire us with fresh, diverse options to choose from. These new tools can not only help ensure that we save some time creating new subject lines, but that they also remain compelling and relevant, driving higher engagement.
- Optimizing Send Times
In the ongoing dialogue about AI’s transformative potential, optimizing email send times is an intriguing topic. Imagining a time when AI analyses patterns in recipient behavior to pinpoint the ideal moment to reach out to each subscriber fits right into the marketer’s Holy Grail of putting the right message in front of the right audience at exactly the right time. Although this type of analysis isn’t perfected yet, you can be sure that AI’s role in optimizing send times is only going to improve going forward.
- Content Generation
Beyond crafting subject lines, AI can also assist in developing the body content within your marketing emails. AI is already capable of streamlining the creation process, offering new ideas to spark your creativity, and providing the outline, so you can add the personal touches to complete the creative process. Think of AI as a new writing partner that can save you a lot of time if you find yourself stuck in writer’s block. AI is also able to create all the content for your marketing emails on its own. However, there are questions about whether to rely on AI to this extent.
- Enhanced Segmentation
Lastly, enhanced segmentation stands out as another tool email marketers would love to get their hands on. Imagine AI delving into subscriber data to understand the nuances of various customer groups. From there, it would allow you to craft exceedingly accurate targeted email campaigns, ensuring each message resonates with its intended audience. At least that’s the dream. In reality, companies, and a good deal of Email Service Providers (ESPs), are just beginning to scratch the surface of what’s possible by using AI for audience segmentation.
It’s worth remembering that AI is currently the worst it will be going forward. So, from here on, it’s only going to get better, at essentially everything. Is it ever going to get to the point where it doesn’t need a human email marketer guiding it along the way? That’s hard to say. For now, we don’t think so, at least not in the foreseeable future. Regardless, as it continues to revolutionize email marketing, offering capabilities that enhance every aspect of campaign management, from personalization and segmentation to content creation, we will continue to stay on top of the issue and share our thoughts and insights. So, stay tuned for more!
